Second half rampage
After an extended winter break due to the weather, the cooks youth team kicked off the New Year with an away match against Rushden & Higham.
New recruits from Spencer; Zak Williams and Lewis Reynolds bolstered the squad, replacing the departing Jordan Richards and long term injury victim Sean Odonovan.
Having played 10 and won 10 so far, Cogenhoe wanted to extend that run with another victory again Rushden & Higham.
1st half…
Playing surface caused problems for both teams, however both were attempting to play football, and it was the Cooks who dominated early proceedings, creating several chances, most notable a volley from mid field man Lewis Lesley, forcing a save from the home keeper. As the half progressed it was clear that from the amount of chances created, Cogenhoe meant business. With the 1st half drawing to a close. New signing Zak Williams was replaced by Dean Lukeman, and the back 4 had a re-shuffle
Having hit the woodwork twice, had 5 corners and numerous shots on goal. The 1st half ended goalless.
With continued pressure in the 2nd half, it took an excellent corner from Liam Tuck, and a goal mouth scramble to open the scoring. George Barrett the marksman. Again. another corner and another goal. Barrett scoring again with a header. 2-0 Cogenhoe. Ashley Buchannan was then replaced on the right by new signing Lewis Reynolds.
By this stage the youth lads took a grip of the game and continued to create chance after chance. A free kick on the edge of the box was coolly slotted home by Liam Tuck to make it 3-0. Tuck was then replaced by Luke Robinson who played wide right.
Front men Dustin Fitzgerald and Sean Nicolson continued their impressive partnership with a goal a piece in the last 10 minutes, and the Cogenhoe lads saw the game out with an impressive 5-0 win.
