Cooks Team: James Alger, Brian Page (Jason Lee), Lee Gotch, James Thatcher, Ollie Wilkinson, Neil Champleovier, Dan Brown (Justin McKenzie), Scott Goodacre, Steve Diggin (Malcolm Ndweke) Carl Holmes, James Gould
Cooks Man of The Match: Steve Diggin Cooks Goalscorers: Steve Diggin (3), Scott Goodacre, Jamie Gould, Dan Brown, Malcolm Ndewke, Carl Holmes, Teenage striking sensation Steve Diggin stole the show as the Cooks trounced last season’s tormentors St Neots Town 8-0 at Compton Park. It was St Neots who knocked the Cooks out at the Semi Final stage of last seasons League Knockout Cup, but the Saints were made to pay for some poor defending as the Cooks front line ran riot. New signing Carl Holmes was partnered upfront with Diggin and they forged a strong partnership up top. But it was Diggin who opened the scoring for the Cooks with an angled drive early on, the Cooks were then soon two up when inform midfield man Scott Goodacre smashed home the second before half time. The second half was a one way affair as the Cooks again played some great attacking football but after a good run Diggin smashed his second goal with a low drive off the inside of the post, the goal rush continued as James Gould fired home from a similar angle as Diggin. Man of the Match Steve Diggin wrapped up his hatrick with the finish of the day, after he sent a ferocious volley into the top corner of the net from a tight angle. Further goals from Dan Brown, Malcolm Ndewke and debutant Carl Holmes wrapped up the rout. The Cooks go into Tuesday's game with Top of the Table Wellingborough in Good spirits after this resounding win Report by "The Photographer" |

Luke Jones gave Biggleswade the lead half way through the first half, The "Cooks" kept crossing the ball into the visitors box ony to be cleared everytime by one of their central defenders. The second half saw the Cooks still struggle to break down the Visitors defence until a substitution bought Justin McKenzie on up front and Dan Brown move to right wing. Less than a minute later it reaped its reward when a failed clearence from Biggleswade was headed to the feat of Dan Brown on the edge of the 18 Yard box who controlled and shot well to level the tie. The game went into extra time and in the last minute of the first period of extra time a cross was headed into his own net by Glen Draper to put the Cooks ahead for the first time. Four minutes into the second period of extra time Justin McKenzie sealed victory |

My first game of the season saw the "Cooks" ease into the next round of the Vase. The "Cooks" made hard work of it though early on and gave away 2 sloppy goals but were the better team without seaming to give 100%. Scott Goodacre's sixth minute opener for the Cooks was cancelled out by Chris Bill's 20th minute reply which was handed to him when olly wilkinson failed to clear on the edge of the box, to leave him one on one. Brian Page restored Cogenhoe's lead from the penalty spot after 42 minutes when rob goldring was hauled over after making a good run into the box. Seven minutes into the second half Cogenhoe went further in front through Dan Brown. The tie looked as if it was over until bad marking from a free kick allowed Mark Betterman to score a minute later. Justin McKenzie who was a subsititute for Steve Diggins lobbed the keeper from a tight angle twenty minutes from the end to seal the tie. |
