Daventry Charity Cup
Cogenhoe United 4 2 Silby Rangers
|
Cogenhoe will play Woodford in Thursday's Daventry Charity Cup final at Elderstubbs. The Cooks scored four goals in six minutes late in the first half to see off Sileby 4-2 in Tuesday's semi. Steve Pacey's 12th minute own goal gave Sileby the lead but two Matthew Poulton penalties after 35 and 39 minutes turned the contest and further goals from Elliott Sandy on 40 minutes and Roy Anderson a minute later. Andy Haines scored an 82nd minute consolation for Rangers

Cogenhoe turned on the heat in the title race, moving up to second place with an
impressive win over the Eagles. After a goalless first half Richard McCabe gave
the Cooks a 55th minute advantage. Richard Turner added a second ten minutes
later and a penalty awarded seven minutes from time gave Cogenhoe skipper Brian
Page a chance to sign off with a goal in his last match before taking up a
coaching post in the United States. Marcus Cumberbatch reduced the arrears in
the 88th minute but Cogenhoe had the last word, Turner scoring his second of the
evening a minute from time.
